Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
